Program Volunteers

Looking for general volunteers for each of our Winter, House and Competitive programs, to help assist with the Executive and bench staff. Pre-season dropping off of promotional flyers to district schools. Arena floor painting in Osgoode, Kemptville and Spencerville. During registration we seek help at the Registration tables. During the regular season we looking for any help you can provide. We are also looking for special events coordinators to plan team parties and get to-gethers.

Coaches and Assistant coaches

We are looking for fair-play minded, energetic, coaches and assistant coaches. Non-experienced coaches are welcome. The KDLA will pay for the Coaching Level 1 clinic for new coaches, which are offered at various times and locations early in the new year. Click here for our 2007 Coaching application. Trainer

Each Rep team is looking for a Trainer. The Trainer is responsible for any first aid or medical assistance and to be on the bench for all tournament play.

Interested in being a trainer for one of our Rep teams? You need....

  1. Any St. John Ambulance Emergency First Aid course (current year certification)
  2. Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & Basic rescuer CPR course
  3. Sport Alliance of Ontario/Canadian Red Cross Sport First Aid course
  4. Ontario Hockey Trainer's Certification Program
  5. A professional designation (ie. MD, RN, Policeman, Fireman)

A photocopy of a trainer's certification card should be attached to your OLA registration form.

All rep teams must have a certified coach and a certified trainer on their bench.

Bench Personnel

Both Houseleague and Competitive teams needs assistance on the bench. If you are will to help out please contact  your coach.

Managers

It is recommended that each team appoint a manager to assist the coach with the administrative aspect of a team. Since all positions are voluntary having some one in this position makes lighter work for all. Managerial duties would include: managing distribution and collection of team sweaters, ensuring all players are aware of the schedule for games and practices, communication of changes, updates on league activities ie. Fun Day, managing any financial aspect of the team if necessary.

Managers are invited to approach the coach of their child's team upon completion of the Tryout/ Team Selection process.

Referees

Age Requirement: Must be at least 14 years old during that calendar year.

Experience Required: Familiarity with the game and basic rules.

Training: A two day, referee clinic is held at the beginning of each season. Referee shirt, rule book, situation handbook are provided. Referee must provide whistle, pants, white socks and running shoes. The fee for the clinic is paid by the KDLA, on the condition that the person does referee a minimum amount of games as requested.

Pay: $10 - $25 per game

Locations: Kemptville, Osgoode, Spencerville arenas.
