During the months of October and November, the KDLA has booked time on Monday nights, from 7:15pm to 9:30pm, at the North Grenville District High School gym, as an open lacrosse night for currently registered KDLA members, from PeeWee to Midget. All are welcome to come out and throw the ball around, work on your skills, stay in shape, help work out some goalies and have fun. Come on out ! It's FREE ! If we have enough players coming out, we will throw together some scrimmage games on those nights as well.
We will also be having "non-members" invitational nights, where a non-currently registered player (2006 season) can bring out a friend that may be interested in playing. A waiver will have to be signed by their parent/guardian. (Will be posted shortly with the nights for the invitational).

Ideas for 2006-2007
The KDLA is throwing around some ideas for the 2007 season. If you would be interested in participating or think it is a good thing to implement, please send an email to kdla@storm.ca.
1. Having a four (4) day, day camp during the March Break. It will focus on: basketball, in-door soccer, lacrosse, and physical fitness. Cost maybe $80.
2. Having a 3 on 3 no-contact team lacrosse league to start in October. One night a week. You can get together three players (experienced or new) to form a team. Helmet, gloves and stick required. There is a one time team registration fee of 10$. Games will last 20 minutes. Depending on the number of teams that sign up you could be playing more then once in a night. It will run until the beginning of the Winter program.
If interested in either program, please email to kdla@storm.ca or call Wendy @ 613-258-3994

The National Lacrosse League (NLL), North America’s professional indoor lacrosse league and the top professional league in the sport of lacrosse, will be airing 16 games from the league’s 2007 season on OLN, which will consist of a weekly telecast for each week of the league’s 16-week regular season. The telecasts will air primarily in primetime on Saturday nights, starting in January and running through mid-April on OLN, which, as of September of 2006 will be known as Versus, a network dedicated to the heart and soul of sports.
“Our new partnership with OLN brings the National Lacrosse League to primetime national television on a weekly basis throughout our entire regular season,” said NLL Commissioner Jim Jennings. “It’s a historic announcement for not only our league, but the sport of lacrosse as a whole. The game has made such great strides in recent years, and the NLL is proud to partner with OLN in bringing lacrosse to a national audience every Saturday night throughout our season.”
OLN (OLNTV.com) is the national cable home of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Stanley Cup Playoffs as well as best-in-class events like The Tour de France, the America's Cup, the Dakar Rally, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), the Arena Football League (AFL), the Boston Marathon, AMA Motocross, Davis Cup and USSA Skiing. Now in more than 69 million homes, the network features the best field sports programming on television and is a destination for sports fans, athletes and sportsmen to find exclusive, competitive events that audiences can't find elsewhere.
You will be able to see OLN on: StarChoice on channel 457 and Bell Express VU on channel 411 and Rogers Digital on channel 56 (Ottawa) and Cogeco on channel 40 (Kemptville).
Game schedules and viewing will be posted when available.

Congratulation to our Bantam team that won GOLD this weekend in Kitchener!
They had a 5 and 0 winning streak. They beat North Humberland 10-2, Midland 8-5, Sudbury 9-4, Stayner 5-0, and played and beat Fort Erie 11-4 in the Championship game.
August 20 2006
Congratulation to our Intermediate team during the Provincials in Burlington. They went in to the Provincials with a 6-4 season. They played against Welland on Friday for their first game. They were down 5-2, but with a hat-trick by Ryan Evoy, they pulled ahead and won 8-7. For their second game it was 4-2 for Sarnia at the end of the first period. 4 goals by Mark Vokey and 5 powerplay goals saw us pull ahead and win 12-5. Going into the third, and semi-final game, against Sudbury, Mark Vokey seriously cut his elbow in the first period. But with a partially immobilized arm, went back into the game and had a goal and an assist. Sudbury pulled ahead and won 5-3.
August 14 2006
Congratulations to our PeeWee team for their performance at the PeeWee Provincials last week. They beat North Perth 6-2 in their first game with goals made by Spensor Corkery, Taylor Van Gurp, Erik Crowther and Andrew Findley. They pulled ahead strong the second day going into the third period 2-1, and ended with a tie against Caledon 3-3 with Spensor Corkery scoring all three goals. Going into the third game tied for first place in their division, they played against Welland. The Welland team came out of the box strong scoring three goals in the first period, and two in the second. Our team tightened their defense and turned up the heat. Although they played the one of the strongest periods in recent games, and two goals by Spensor Corkery, they were not able to gain enough goals, being short handed by penalties, to come out victorious. This pushed them into third place by points, eliminating them from progressing any further in the competition.
Congratulations to all the players: Brandon Noel, Alex Blake, Spensor Corkery, Erik Crowther, Andrew Findley, Kirk Gibson, Spencer Jonnson, Cody Oliver, Taylor Van Gurp, Callum Cassidy-Matthews, William Monkhouse-Beck and Thomas Williamson. And to all the bench staff: Richard Noel, Chris Oliver, Sam Gibson, Rob Monkhouse and Cheryl Gibson. As well as to all the parents and family who attended and cheered them on.

The Ottawa Nemesis has changed its name. They will now be know as the Ottawa Knights U19. The program of playing in the fall will be the same but the name and affiliation with the Nepean Jr B club will be new. This affiliation will provide better organization for the U19 program and will also help to develop players for the Junior ranks. The team will still be open to all players throughout the Zone 5 area and will not be restricted to players from just Nepean or the city of Ottawa. Developing field players will improve skill levels in box lacrosse and is a positive measure for all groups in Zone 5. They will also introduce U13 and U15 teams in the near future.
The development of such team and local league will provide the opportunity for players to extend the playing time from just the box lacrosse season, to a longer lacrosse season of 7-8 months. Contact ottawaknights@nepeanknights.com for more info.

Congratulations to the KDLA PeeWee and Bantam Competitive teams at their performance at the 2006 Cornwall Veteran's Memorial Tournament held June 15-18. The PeeWee team brought home the Silver in their division, beating Gloucester and Nepean for second place, but unfortunately, couldn't get around the team from Sherbrooke Quebec. Our Bantams had a tight battle on their hands having to face Kingston in the finals, but were proud to hold their heads up bringing home the Silver as well.
